Overview
The COVID Observatories one year (27 October, 2020 - 26 March, 2022) collaborative project funded by the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). The project is led by the University of Leeds in UK and draws partnership from the University Of Warwick; University Of Nairobi; Universidad Peruana Cayetano Herediawhose; Ugandan National Health Research Organisation; University Of Ghana; Food And Agriculture Organization Of The United Nations; Ashoka Trust for Research In Ecology and the Environment; University Of Namibia; University Of Northern British Columbia; Indian Institute for Human Settlements; and University Of Cape Town. The objective of COVID Observatories project is to understand how COVID-19 is interacting with multiple stresses to affect the food systems of Indigenous communities, and co-generate knowledge and capacity to strengthen resilience. The project specifically deals with: the development and operationalization of COVID Observatories in Isiolo county of Kenya; documentation of the emergence of COVID and examination of its impacts on food systems in the study area; monitoring and examination of the real-time experiences, responses, and observations on COVID through Community observers, policy observers, and Researcher observers; compilation and assessment of how COVID is being officially communicated and responded to; identification, examination, and promotion of interventions to strengthen resilience; and examination of transferable lessons
