Call for Papers: Pathways to African Feminism and Development | Call for Papers Pathways to African Feminism and Development the Journal of the African Women Studies Centre (AWSC), University of Nairobi, Kenya Original articles are invited for Volume 6 (special) issue No 1 of Pathways to African Feminism and Development on the theme: Women Economic Empowerment: Theories and Practice. The theme allows for a wide range of research or literature reviews on: 1. The impact of affirmative action funds in promoting women’s entrepreneurship 2. Economic Stimulus Packages and Social Protection safety nets during the Covid 19 pandemic and their implications for WEE 3. National Budgets Policy Statements and their implication on sectors that support child care and women’s work 4. Turkish Communication Programme | The Embassy of the Republic of Turkey presents its compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kenya and has the honour to inform the esteemed Ministry about Turkey’s “Public Officials and Academicians Turkish Communication Program-KATIP” offered annually to foreign public officials, academicians and researchers who are willing to learn Turkish and get to know Turkey. KATIP is a a scholarship program that includes Turkish language education at the Istanbul University Language Center as well as immersion in the Turkish culture through seminars, conferences, visits to official institutions and travel around the country. Participants will be offered two options (6-month and 10-month) for the duration of the program. 6-month program will take place between 11 October 2021 and 10 April 2022 and 10-month program will take place between 11 October 2021-14 August 2022. The scholarship covers the expenses of Turkish language education, monthly stipend which is 3,000 Turkish Liras (approximately 360 US Dollars), round trip airfare tickets, accommodation expenses, and the cost of all the trips and cultural activities in Turkey. Health insurance costs are to be borne by the participants. Candidates among public officials are required to have at least three years of work experience in their respective institutions and preferably hold a master’s/doctoral degree. Candidates among academicians are required to be currently employed in an academic institution and have a PhD or at least a PhD candidacy, preferably in social sciences, with research interest in Turkey, General requirements include being no older than 40 years of age as of January 2021 and not benefitting from Turkey Scholarships currently and in the past. The Embassy invites the Ministry to recommend eligible candidates to the KATIP 2021-2022 Program in the light of the above-mentioned requirements. Following their referral to the Embassy by the Ministry, candidates will submit their online applications no later than 30 June 2021 at “tbbs.turkiyeburslari.gov.tr” by creating a personal account, filling in the relevant sections and uploading required documents. Only those candidates confirmed by the Embassy will be considered by the KATIP Scholarship Council. |

PhD Scholarships in Economic and Management Sciences - 2022 | Stellenbosch University’s Graduate School of Economic and Management Sciences (GEM) is accepting applications for its full-time, residential PhD programme. European Commission Funding -African Research Initiative for Scientific Excellence Pilot Programme (ARISE) 18th June-30th July 2021 | AAS -EU ARISE CALL : http://www.aasciences.africa/call/arise Deadline: Friday, July 30, 2021 African Research Initiative for Scientific Excellence Pilot Programme | Call for Expressions of Interest Are you a talented early-career scientist who has already produced excellent supervised work, is ready to work independently and shows potential to be a research leader? The African Research Initiative for Scientific Excellence Pilot Programme (ARISE-PP) Grant is an opportunity for you to further develop your research career and become a principal researcher leading your own grant. Who can apply? African researchers who are African nationals with 2-7 years of research experience since completion of their PhD, a scientific track record showing great promise, and an excellent research proposal to conduct excellent research in an African university or research institution. What proposals are eligible? The ARISE-PP grants are open to applications from all fields of research. Proposals should take into account the priorities of the AU-EU High Level Policy Dialogue on Science Technology and Innovation (Public Health, Green Transition, Innovation and Technology, Capacities for science). Eligible Host Institutions Research must be conducted at an eligible university or research institution located in one of the African Union member states. The Host Institution (HI) must be a legal entity and a leading African institution able to provide an excellent research environment and facilities that match the requirements of the proposed research project. Applications for an ARISE grant must be submitted by the lead Principal Investigator (PI) in collaboration with, and on behalf of, their African Host Institution. Grants are awarded to the HI with the explicit commitment that this institution will offer appropriate conditions for the PI to direct the research independently and manage its funding for the duration of the project. The PI does not necessarily have to be working at the proposed host institution at the time of submission of the proposal. However, a mutual agreement and the host institution’s commitment on how the relationship will be established are necessary, should the proposal be successful. The PI should be planning to work with the students and faculty based at the proposed host institution to enhance the HI’s capacity to undertake cutting edge research. The call targets to award one grant per country. Therefore, researchers seeking to work at Host Institutions in countries often not awarded grants in pan African research funding calls are encouraged to apply. How much? The maximum grant amount per grantee is a lump sum of EUR 500,000 for a period not exceeding 60 months (5 years). An ARISE grant can cover up to 100% of the total eligible direct costs of the research plus a contribution of up to 7% of the total eligible direct costs towards indirect costs. |
